"I write and sing songs about being human" ovvero "Scrivo e canto canzoni sull'essere umani" - così si descrive Brian Fennell, in arte SYML, cantante statunitense già membro della band indie Barcelona. Con oltre 1 miliardo di streaming e singoli certificati platino e oro, l'artista infatti è pronto a tornare con un nuovo album e un tour. Guidato da un'inebriante voce in falsetto,  tra rock, folk e chitarre avvolgenti, 'The Day My Father Died'  è un disco onesto e sincero.

Tratto da 'The Day My Father Died', 'Chariot' è un brano riflessivo dal ritmo energico. Batterie e percussioni sono state registrate, come tutto il disco, agli Studio X, che si trovano all'interno di una vecchia chiesa.  I 15 brani che compongono 'The Day My Father Died' , il secondo album di studio in arrivo il 3 febbraio, vedono Fennell raccontare un aspetto molto personale della sua vita, legato alla morte del padre adottivo nel 2021. Più che un testamento di perdita, l'album parla del viaggio di SYML per scrollarsi di dosso il dolore e come andare comunque avanti, nonostante tutto, un documento di crescita e guarigione. 

Registrato e prodotto a Seattle con Phil Ek (Band of Horses, Father John Misty, Fleet Foxes), 'The Day My Father Died' vede SYML per la prima volta suonare con la band al completo. Nel disco si trovano i contributi di Lucius, Guy Garvey (Elbow), Sara Watkins (violinista e compositrice statunitense) e Charlotte Lawrence.
